WHO: The CEO and Founder of Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef, Andy Ridley also founded the Earth Hour concept and was responsible for taking it from Sydney to more than 7000 cities across the globe.

WHAT: Many high-end travel designers and suppliers think they are successfully reaching the LGBTQ market because they already have a few LGBTQ clients – but this is only the tip of the iceberg. Today’s LGBTQ luxury consumers are very sophisticated, are made up of numerous cultures and subcultures, and won’t fall for ‘rainbow flag and disco ball’ marketing – so how do you formulate a long-term strategy to reach, service and retain them?

WHAT: The sharing economy continues to grow, with many savvy travellers choosing to use home-sharing services during their travels as a way to experience destinations from an insider, ‘like a local’ perspective. With Airbnb valued at $31 billion compared to Marriott’s $33 billion, traditional hotel companies should pay attention to the values of the sharing economy and incorporate some of its principles into their own offerings in order to meet the needs and interests of modern travellers.


MIND OVER MATTER: HOW TO DESIGN A DETOX FOR THE MIND

DIETMAR MUELLER-ELMAU

WHO: Dietmar Mueller is the Owner and CEO of Schloss Elmau, a luxury spa retreat and cultural hideaway 100km south of Munich and deep in the calm of the Bavarian Alps.

WHAT: The wellness movement is often largely focused on the physical, from what we consume to how we exercise. However, in order to relax, release emotional tension and clear your mind, it’s important to combine contemporary wellness culture with the timeless practices of mental detoxing and mindfulness. Dieter will explain how to use concerts and literary events featuring artists and authors to inspire travellers and recharge their batteries.


THE POWER OF A SINGLE STORY: HOW TO INSPIRE TRAVEL THROUGH STORYTELLING

WHO: Andrew’s life-long global experiences travelling and living abroad, coupled with his background at NASA, NSF and most recently the UNWTO, have taught him how to forecast major travel trends related to sustainable tourism and economic development. He currently produces films and develops the framework for multi-stakeholder content marketing campaigns at GLP Films.

WHAT: If executed properly, a single travel story can be the catalyst for a life-changing journey. Andrew will explain how to discover iconic stories and craft award-winning content marketing campaigns for destinations around the world. During this 30-minute presentation, followed by a 15-minute discussion, you’ll learn how to educate, ignite inspiration and create a call to action in less than five minutes, as well as take away a multi-disciplinary set of tools and knowledge to support travel through storytelling.
