#CHANGEWORLDS: HOW TO MAKE MONEY WHILE HAVING A PROFOUND POSITIVE IMPACT IN THE WORLD
WHO: Taylor Conroy is a meditating surfer obsessed with building businesses that make change. His first social enterprise, ‘Change Heroes’, mobilised people in 80 countries to fund and build 400 schools, water projects, libraries, scholarships for girls, anti-sex trafficking work and more for 200,000 people in developing nations. Most recently, he started ‘Journey’ – an impact-travel company that brings groups of between 30 and 70 people to build homes in slums throughout Latin America, followed by meditation, yoga, and adventure.
WHAT: Taylor will begin by sharing the fascinating and eclectic story of how he got where he is today – via doing stints as a professional firefighter, a real estate entrepreneur and a body builder; studying with Zen monks in Japan; running with bulls in Spain; exploring every continent on earth, including Antarctica; surfing the longest wave in the world in Peru; and filming mini documentaries in the red light district of Cambodia to combat sex trafficking, in the Ecuadorian Amazon to catalyze micro-finance, and in the jungles of Uganda as an activist for human rights. He’ll go on to explain why he believes in “doing well by doing good”, recounting the many successes and failures he’s experienced while on the adventure of being a global social entrepreneur.
