For our fifth birthday, we’re setting up camp in PURE’s birthplace of Marrakech. This phantasmagorical city embodies the experiential rhythms running through our bloodstream. It is a place of transformation where beat writers, hippies and rock stars have flocked since the 60s and 70s to experience life in a different light, finding inspiration and escape in the geometric shadows of the souk, amid an atmosphere dense with perfume and possibility. From Casablanca to The Rolling Stones, Yves Saint Laurent, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs, the vibrant, exotic and infectious romance of Morocco has long set the scene for hedonism, creativity and the most outlandish travellers’ tales.

Today, Marrakech has evolved to possess all the traits most important to PUREists: international connections, stunning high-end hotels, a dynamic foodie scene and a balmy November climate. The contrast between the world’s leading hotel brands and the medieval feel of the city’s hidden corners makes Marrakech the only place to discover experiential luxury for 2013.
