In one line, what makes you a PUREist?
I am a PUREist because I am passionate about life changing travel experiences.
Tell us your story – how did you get where you are today?
I was born into a pioneering wilderness family. My grandfather began the lodge that I manage today back in the late 40s. My parents were married there and were sharing their home and life style with guests as an early example of what the luxury experiential travel market has become today. I am a member of the 3rd generation of family members who still live and work on site. My husband is a commercial bush pilot and a wilderness guide and my parents and siblings are as well; together we share our deep passion for true wilderness with a small number of guests who become family each summer.
Can you share with us your single most life-enriching experience?
For me it’s watching people come into this vast wilderness setting and have all their preconceptions blown away. It’s being able to share our unique lifestyle, 100 miles from the literal end of the road, and help guests get back to their roots in a sense and remember there are simple and important things in life that don’t involve cell phones and business meetings.
What does the term ‘experiential travel’ mean to you?
It means being immersed in your surroundings – whether it be a wild glacier where no one has ever set foot, or the bustling medina where your senses are assaulted. It means not being afraid to get your feet a little wet or move slightly beyond your comfort zone in order to take your adventure out of the box and unwrap a discovery that will enhance your world view.

Describe your ideal client: how do they approach travel?
They come to us with an open mind and no literary. They trust us to deliver something they can’t begin to imagine and they allow us to create a healthy balance between wilderness posh and authentic adventure.
What made you decide to join PURE Life Experiences and how has doing so benefitted your business?
When we were invited to join PURE and began to research the event we were thrilled to discover a marketing venue that embodies a concept that we have always had to explain to people – luxury experiential travel, life changing experiences, not just another comfortable vacation. PURE has connected us with the right likeminded buyers and sellers globally.
What role do you think PURE has to play in the high-end experiential travel industry?
PURE is already the catalyst for this industry and can continue to be in the forefront by opening up more doors to connect the global media to its members.
What other brands and companies in high-end experiential travel do you admire the most?
I admire the people who work hard, follow their own dreams and create something meaningful that they then can share with others. I admire those who make our world a better place in big ways and small and who finish the day with a smile on their face. I think the majority of the PUREists fit this profile.
If there were one thing you could change about the travel industry, what would it be?
Change is good, but I think perfecting the good thing that we have going already is the most important.
